Tammy Lynn Brown was born in Madison, Indiana, on September 13, 1957, to Clarence Housefield, Jr. and Anne Housefield. She was blessed with her first child, Michael Skirvin, before entering into matrimony with the love of her life, Haywood Brown. Together, Tammy and Haywood shared a love that is rarely found—a love rooted in faith and devoted to God, to one another, and to their family. From their union, they were blessed with two daughters, Andrea E. Brown and Angela L. Holsonback. Family was at the very heart of Tammy and Haywood’s life, and their love for their children, grandchildren, family, and friends was boundless.

She is survived by her son, Michael Skirvin (Jerri); two daughters, Andrea Brown and Angela Holsonback (Joshua); two grandsons, Anthony Skirvin and Mayson Skirvin; three sisters, Cheryl Perry (Trimble), Tricia McDowell and Tami Blair (Charles;) and one brother, Jaymee Housefield (Jennifer).

Tammy was a devout Christian who loved her Lord with every fiber of her being. Her faith was not simply something she believed, it was something she lived. She sought God’s guidance in all things, made decisions with a faithful heart, and trusted Him through every season of her life. Her faith shaped the way she loved, served, and cared for the people around her.

For 32 years, Tammy dedicated herself to the U.S.S. Alabama Memorial Park, where she oversaw the Scout Program. For several years, she also oversaw the Veterans Reunion, a role that gave her the opportunity to meet and spend time with countless veterans and their families. Those years brought Tammy experiences and conversations that many people never have the opportunity to share. More importantly, they gave her lifelong friendships and memories that she treasured deeply.

Tammy had a truly giving heart. She possessed a natural compassion for others and never hesitated to give of herself, whether through her work, her community, her friendships, or simply by being there for someone who needed her. Community outreach was especially important to her, and she found genuine joy in helping others. Her kindness was never limited to words; she showed it through her actions, often in quiet ways that others may never have fully known. She had a way of making people feel valued, welcome, and most of all loved.

Above all else, Tammy loved her family. She cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and friends and found her greatest happiness in simply being together. Where her family was, her heart was happiest. She created memories through the everyday moments that, in time, become the moments people hold onto most.

There are many words that could be used to describe Tammy, but perhaps none captures her better than humble, kind, faithful, and giving. She was a woman who gave of herself in more ways than anyone could imagine. She loved deeply, served faithfully, and cared for others without asking for anything in return. The lives she touched, the friendships she formed, the family she loved, and the kindness she shared are all part of the legacy she leaves behind.

Tammy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Haywood Brown; her father, Clarence Housefield, Jr.; her mother, Anne Louine Housefield; her stepmother, Mary Housefield; her stepsisters, Nancy Keller, Lisa Scully, and Norma Seebree; and her stepbrother, Mark Branham.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Bromley Baptist Church, 7977 Bluefield Drive, Bay Minette, AL, from 4PM – 6PM.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Bromley Baptist Church, at 11AM.  Interment will follow at Johnson Cemetery in Bay Minette, AL.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Tammy Brown to Whitehouse Fork Baptist Church. Donations will go toward a fund established by the church to support the local elementary school by providing snacks for students and helping teachers with classroom supplies.
