Terry William Raines, a native of Satsuma, Alabama and a resident of Orange Beach, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, December 11, 2025. His wife of 40 years, Janet, was beside him as he passed from this life to be with Jesus eternally. Terry was 60 years old.
Terry worked for 17 years at International Paper Company in the Wood Yard, where he was known for his dependability and strong work ethic. For the past 25 years, he owned and operated J&T Contracting in Orange Beach with his wife, taking great pride in building their business and community relationships.
Terry loved the outdoors and spent many hours fishing and hunting. He also loved his smoker and grill, often cooking for family and friends and making sure everyone around him was well-fed and welcomed. He deeply loved his family, and his great joy was time spent with his children and grandsons. He was especially devoted to Lawson and Parker who brought light, laughter and purpose to his life.
Terry loved his sister, Jane, and enjoyed spending time with her, having pizza parties and going to restaurants when he would go over to see her and their mom.
Terry’s love for the Lord and care for others was evident even in his greatest trials. He continued to pray fervently for others as he himself was fighting the hardest battle of his life.
Terry was preceded in death by his father, Bill W. Raines and his sister, Janet Raines.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Robinson Raines; his son, Derek (Bailey) Raines of Panama City, FL and Haley (Micah) Craine of Robertsdale, AL; his grandsons, Lawson and Parker Raines; his mother, Mary Ellen Raines; brother, Tony (Vanessa) Raines and sister, Jane Raines; as well as other family members and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Bayou Sara Baptist Church, 12 Bayou Sara Avenue in Saraland, AL. There will be a time of visitation with family and friends beginning at 11:30AM, followed by the service at 1:00PM. Interment will take place at Satsuma Cemetery.

I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Terry.
For more than 25 years, Terry and I shared a professional relationship that grew into something far more meaningful than work alone. Over the years, I came to know him as someone who was dependable, thoughtful, and steady,qualities that earned respect not only from me, but from everyone fortunate enough to work with him.
Terry carried himself with quiet professionalism and integrity. He approached his work with care and consistency, and he treated people with kindness and fairness. In an industry that is often fast-paced and demanding, Terry was a constant presence you could rely on.
Beyond his professional contributions, Terry will be remembered for the way he made working together easier and better simply by being who he was. His impact was lasting, and his absence will be felt by many.
I am grateful for the years we worked together and for the trust and respect we shared. Terry’s legacy lives on through the people he worked with and the relationships he built over a lifetime.
He will be sincerely missed.
I live in Michigan so I was stunned to learn just this week of the death of my friend, Terry Raines. I am deeply saddened and send my heartfelt condolences to Janet and the family.
