Theresa Fagerstrom Sims, a resident of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at the age of 83.
She was born on September 7, 1942, in Beaumont, Texas and was raised in Mobile, Alabama.
Theresa was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Sims; her parents, Daniel Lawrence Fagerstrom and Lillian Beck Fagerstrom; and two brothers, Lawrence Eugene Fagerstrom and Gerald F. Fagerstrom.
She is survived by her devoted sister, Katherine McDermott (Kevin) of Malverne, New York; and by four nieces and one nephew; along with numerous family members and friends.
Theresa was a Veteran of the United States Navy. She graduated from Convent of Mercy School in Mobile, Alabama. She attended the University of South Alabama where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree.
She was a member of the Fairhope Elks Lodge and a Mobile Mardi Gras organization. She was a Master Gardener and a member of the Fairhope Quilt Guild. She enjoyed tatting, photography and creating Ukrainian eggs.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Hughes Funeral Home, 26209 Pollard Road in Daphne, AL, from 5PM-7PM. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at 10AM, at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 34904 Hwy. 225 in Spanish Fort, AL.

We will miss her. Whether we are gardening or redecorating, we will remember the many times she offered advice. We will also miss her bubbly presence during the holidays.

She is a dearest friend and most importantly she was such sweet lady. She knew how to make the crowd laugh all the time. She will be missed dearly and will always be in my heart. Love ya gal and see you soon. Rest in sweet laughter and peace.
Aunt Theresa was an amazing Aunt. Good to be around. I remember when she and Uncle John took a road trip and we saw each other. Aunt Theresa will be missed.
I was honored to meet Theresa and John a few years back. I had been adopted at birth and discovered a family connection through John. I loved seeing all her gardening projects, her Mardi Gras costumes, and her cats! We would chat occasionally through FB Messenger. I remember going out for lunch with them and she knew EVERYBODY! I could tell she and John were beloved members of their beautiful Fairhope community. I’m sorry to just now learn of this. I’m hoping her cats found good homes!
