Tom was a complex man with a very interesting life. I was a kid when I met him 45 years ago when he was dating, then married, my cousin Lisa. I was kind of afraid of him as he had been to Viet Nam twice and had a reputation for being someone you did not want to make angry. He also had a wicked sense of humor and once you got to know him, you saw what a good heart he had too. I would visit my cousin (and Tom) and their kids often and he and I became friends. He still had his wild moments but being a husband and father calmed him down quite a bit. He impressed me when he built his own shrimp boat in his front yard so that he could be a shrimper. He acted like it was no big deal, but it was to me. I wouldn’t know the first thing about building a boat nor would most people I believe! He was just such a character and I will remember him fondly and miss him. Rest in Peace, Tom. Give Lisa my love now that you are both united again…I’ll see you one day on the other side.

My condolences to the family. I didn’t know him personally that well. But I heard alot of fun stories. He sounded like a very smart man, who lived an exciting life at times. I thank him for his service to county.
