Thomas J. “Tom” Hammitte, was born in Tennessee on March 7, 1943. Mr. Hammitte was a resident of Spanish Fort, AL for the past two plus years. His leaving has left the family with a terrible void that can never be filled.
We will remember a life lived with immense love and a constant sense of caring. He was a devoted husband, father, great and great-grand father. He will be deeply missed by family, friends and all who knew him.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and a grandson. Survivors include his wife, Maretta (Marti); daughter, Sherry (David) Fuller; son, Thomas B. (Heather) Hammitte; step-daughter, Annamarie (Charles) Irwin, 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be held on November 15, 2025, at 1 PM at Westminster Village clubhouse, 500 Spanish Fort Blvd., Spanish Fort, AL. The family requests casual dress, Caribbean cruise attire would be appropriate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Spanish Fort United Methodist Church.

My heart is broken and I already miss you more than words can say grandpa. I love you.
We will cherish the many memories we have of all the wonderful times we shared together in The Villages. Especially the the cruise we took together to celebrate our 65th anniversary. The clock Tom made for us will always have a special place in our home.
The world has lost a good and decent man, a faithful friend, a dear husband, and devoted family patriarch. Heaven has gained his gentle soul. Hugs and love to all the family, especially Marti. May all of your good memories comfort you in the days to come.
We, too, have one of Tom’s beautiful clocks in our home, and it will always be a cherished memory of him. He was a fine, fine man, and he will forever be missed.
A lot of my childhood memories consist of you and Aunt Marti. I remember a kind and loving man. So sweet and welcoming. I know God has you in his arms. Say hi to Dad. Love you always Uncle Tom. ❤️🙏🏼

Tom always had a smile on his face in spite of his problems. We at Westminster will truly miss him.. !Mari has been such a wonderful care giver but she she knows that we will all one dayThe Lord bless and keep her.
The Lord has a new member of the prayer group! I remember Tom fondly from our time in VA and have enjoyed all of the FB stories. I know you will feel a void in your physical life but look to the heavens and feel him in your heart!
I have wonderful memories of Tom on the grandparent’s farm In Tennessee.
Our journey continued to Maryland. We reconnected by way of the donut store owned by my uncle Larry and my dad.
Tom is one of the kindest people that I have known..
