Tina Lisa Day, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece and friend, passed away at the age of 62, after a long hard fight with a terrible illness on Sunday, March 5, 2023, exactly 18 years from her first date with her husband Lee.
Tina was born on July 16, 1960, in Little Rock Arkansas. She was the daughter of Alex and Linda Nesterenko. Tina grew up in Little Rock and at the age of 14 became a candy striper. She absolutely fell in love with nursing and later went to school and became a registered nurse.
Tina had many lifelong friends and a large family she loved in Arkansas but in 2004, Tina moved to Atlanta, Georgia and not too long after, met the love of her life, Lee Day. Tina and Lee were perfect for each other. Their first date was to a cooking expo at the Galleria Mall. Tina told Lee she loved to cook, and Lee said that was great because he loved to eat.
Tina and Lee quickly became inseparable and in 2007 they moved to Daphne, Alabama and later to Fairhope, Alabama. They never looked back. This became their home and Tina’s love for the people and for the area grew exponentially. She was so happy and on March 4, 2017, Tina and Lee were officially married, just between her mom and dad’s birthday.
Tina was an excellent cook and homemaker but did so much more. She gave much of her personal time to volunteer as a hospice nurse, and administering Covid vaccines. In her spare time, she loved to paint and one of her favorite things to do was spending the 4th of July on her dad’s boat with family and friends.
Tina is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Porferio and Anna Nesterenko; maternal grandparents, Clifford and Pauline Spann Smith; brother-in-law, Alan Day; mother and father-in-law, Frances and Howard Day; and her dog, Thelma Lou.
She is survived by her loving husband of 6 years, Lee Day; daughter, Leah Elizabeth McGraw; parents, Alex and Linda Nesterenko; siblings, Tim (Missy) Nesterenko and Tony (Tabitha) Nesterenko; nephews, Cameron and Preston Nesterenko; brothers-in-law, Tony Day (Leanne) and Mike Day (Arlene) and sisters-in-law, Brenda Day Medlock (Ralph) and Gail Day; her fur-baby, Zoey; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.
Tina will be missed by so many people here on earth, but we know she is dancing with the angels now and is longer in pain.
No services are planned at this time. Expressions of condolence for the family may be made at www.hughesfh.com. Hughes Funeral Home, 26209 Pollard Road, Daphne, AL, is assisting the family.
