Carole, Mildred, Mark, Donna, children, grandchildren, nephews and nieces:

I am sad to learn that Wayne has gone from among you. As I read your elegant written tribute to him, I recalled with much fondness the visits to Sage Avenue (whiffle ball in the back yard; hardball at Sage Park; peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in the kitchen) and other adventures (watching Wayne and our cousin Stevie play little league ball games along with the likes of Jimbo Mason and Norwood Hill; getting soaked to the skin on the great Labor Day fishing trip on Fish River), and was pleased at my absence of surprise in reading about Wayne numerous contributions to others. In my mind, Wayne will forever epitomize that wonderful blend of amiability and resolve that is so evident in all of the siblings and cousins who I was fortunate to know as descendants of Clarence and Hattie Coco Jones. What a nurturing home environment we were all privileged to grow up in. In my view, Wayne also serves as an example that one’s faith is demonstrated by more than what one believes; it is demonstrated by what one does.

I hope and trust that all of this will be of consolation and inspiration to you all as you pass along the same ethos as exemplified by Wayne, his parents, grandparents, and great grandparents to succeeding generations of your loved ones.

    With greatest sympathy and regards,

    Greg Jones

What an inspiration Wayne was to me. My buddy ALWAYS had a positive attitude towards life and others. Never ever did Wayne have a negative comment about anyone. He was always there for anyone who needed help or to just talk. He loved his Mardi Gras parades and for years we would plan together on our rides.since I was out of town Wayne took care of getting my throws if necessary. A little thing but this is just how Wayne was. Wayne loved everyone but especially you Carole and the rest of his family. He’s looking down on all of us and saying be at peace and I’ll see you all soon. Great friend and MAN of God. Love. Pat and Kelly

My sympathy and prayers to all the Jones family. I was never around Wayne that he was not smiling and joking and making, whoever the other person was, more at ease and welcomed.
