William Lloyd Maurer, a native of Ashland, Pennsylvania and a resident of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2022, at the age of 88.
William was a graduate of Ashland High School and Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. He taught business in the Newark School District followed by a position as Purchasing Agent for the State of Delaware. He served in the Air Force as an A&E Mechanic.
William was very involved in the Masons Greeno Lodge #598, as well as the Hiram #25 Lodge in Newark, Delaware. In his spare time, he loved to square dance and received a Bachelor of Square-Dancing Degree, as well as many bowling achievement awards.
William is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Mary Jane Maurer; three daughters, Debbie Pyle (Kenny), Barbara Bright (Jeff) and Celeste Decorte (David); grandchildren, Nathan Pyle (Heather), Lisa Shook (Chuck), Zachary Pyle (Samantha), Adam Bright (Donna), Emily Decorte, CeCe Decorte and Sophie Decorte, and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 11, 2022, at 11:30 AM at Hughes Funeral Home, 26209 Pollard Road in Daphne, AL. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 12:30 PM.
