William O. “Bill” Parks, a native of Talladega, Alabama, and a resident of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at the age of 79.
Bill had a long, fulfilling 50-year career in broadcasting, starting as a disc jokey while in high school and ending as general manager of a group of TV stations. He retired to Gulf Shores in 2005 and enjoyed golfing, boating, fishing and spending time with his family.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Lee O. and Peggy G. Parks. He is survived by is loving wife of 56 years, Julia; his children, Taylor Parks of Fairhope, AL and Paige Parks Lindblom (Sam) of Charlottesville, VA; his grandchildren, Caden Taylor Lindblom and Samuel Carter Lindblom of Charlottesville, VA and Stella Goldy Parks and Hudson King Parks of Fairhope, AL; his siblings, Barbara Parks Burkart (Lee), Jan Parks Thomas (Dan) and James “Jim” Parks (Cathie); along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at St. Andrew by the Sea Church, 17263 Fort Morgan Road, Gulf Shores, AL, at 2PM. Interment will take place at Memory Garden at St. Andrew by the Sea Church.
Hughes Funeral Home, 26209 Pollard Road, Daphne, AL, is assisting the family.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Bill. He meant the world to me, and I am just heartbroken. Pat Coffman and I talked about him often at Fox 31, He was by far the best GM we have ever had. He left lasting impressions on all of us at the station. Please know that I am praying for you all that God will give you comfort in the days ahead as you navigate this life without him. I hope to see you on August 16th.
Julia, I was so very sorry to heart his news from my friend and neighbor, Dibba Spears. Billy and his wonderful smile will be missed. Love and prayers to you and your family.
Dear Julia-so sad to hear about Bill. Considered Bill a friend and always thought of him as one of the good guys. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
My deepest sympathy Julia. Bill was a respected competitor & even my boss on one occasion, but most of all he was a good friend & confidant through all the years that I knew him. Always the gentleman, Bill would bend over backwards to help you if he could. He’s a great loss, not only to friends & family, but fellow Broadcasters alike. He will be missed, but his legacy of kindness & selflessness as a leader in our Industry will live on. May God bless you & your family through this difficult time.
