Willie Gene Lambert, 79, born in Choctaw County, Alabama and a long-time resident of Mobile, died peacefully on Monday, April 25, 2011.

Gene was a US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and the Berlin Crisis and retired with 28 years of service from the Alabama Army National Guard achieving the rank of CW4. He retired from the City of Mobile as International Protocol and Special Events Coordinator. Gene was also affiliated over the years with the Mobile Civic Center, Mississippi Coast Coliseum and the Gatlinburg, TN Chamber of Commerce. He was an active member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church.
