Joyce Rita Ory Newman, a native of Algiers (New Orleans), LA and a resident of Daphne, AL, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2026, at the age of 92.

Joyce worked for Pioneers of AT&T and was a clerk at Bellsouth for 33 ½ years.  She was a graduate of Holy Name of Mary in Algiers.  Joyce enjoyed shopping, flowers, birdwatching and reading.  But the thing she enjoyed the most was time spent with family and friends, getting together for crawfish boils.  She also enjoyed her time travelling with her sister on the East Coast and to Disney World.

Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, Stafford Wayne Newman; her parents, Blanche Trosclaire Ory and Theodore Joseph Ory, Sr.; her sisters, Blanche Ory Calvo and Brenda Ory Durm; and her brother, Joseph Ory, Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Newman Patterson (Tommy); her grandchildren, Thomas Raymond Patterson, II and Stefanie Rai Patterson; great-grandchildren, Brian Michael Robicheaux, II, Madison Elizabeth Robicheaux, Brody Michael Patterson and Grayse Allen Kitchens; and her siblings, Dolores Ory Johnson, Patsy Ory Seeling, Dennis James Ory (June) and Deborah Ory McGinn; along with an abundance of loving nieces, nephews and cousins; as well as her entire Gentiva Family.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 28, 2026, at 11AM, at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 34904 Hwy. 225 in Spanish Fort, AL.
