Vito, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed peacefully into the arms of his Savior on July 19, 2026, at the age of 89.
A longtime resident of Fairhope, Alabama, Vito carried the warmth and spirit of his Chicago roots with him throughout his life, leaving behind a legacy of steadfast love, quiet strength, and joyful fellowship. Born in Chicago as the eldest of four boys, Vito was raised with the values of hard work, loyalty, and family devotion that would define him. He served his country as a proud U.S. Army veteran before marrying the love of his life, Bari Arquilla, on a beautiful day in August 1966. Their marriage became the heart of a lively home, where they raised two children, Vito Delorto, Jr., and Vickie Akin. Vito later embraced the special role of grandfather with open arms, helping to raise his cherished granddaughter, Justine Delorto, with gentle guidance and affection.
Vito found deep pleasure in life’s simpler joys. He was an avid bowler and golfer, enjoyed fishing trips with his friends, and was a steady hand at the shooting range. He loved nothing more than gathering with family for laughter-filled get-togethers, sharing good meals at favorite restaurants, and cheering on his beloved Chicago sports teams. Yet above all else, Vito’s greatest treasure was his faith. He acknowledged Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and now, with a heart that once beat with earthly love, he dwells in eternal glory.
He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Bari Arquilla Delorto; his parents, Maria and James Delorto; and his brother, Frank Delorto. Vito is survived by his children, Vito Delorto, Jr., and Vickie (Alan) Akin; his granddaughter, Justine Delorto; his brothers, Tony (Pat) Delorto and James (Debbie) Delorto; and a wide circle of loving nieces, nephews, and godchildren whose lives he touched with kindness and humor. In this season of sorrow, we hold fast to the promise that sustained Vito through every chapter of his life:
“Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.”

Though we grieve today, we rejoice in the knowledge that Vito’s story has not ended—it has simply moved to a brighter, everlasting home. May his memory bring comfort, laughter, and the warmth of his embrace to all who loved him.
A memorial service will be held at Fairhope Avenue Baptist Church, 8717 Fairhope Avenue, Fairhope, AL, on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 11AM. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 29 at 11AM at Old Daphne Cemetery.
